Historic Sites Along Captain James H. Simpson’s Wagon Road: Camp Floyd to Fort Bridger

John D. and Nila J. Eldredge

This small book provides the reader with ample photos, maps, and drawings to aid in the understanding of the land in and around the Great Basin of Utah. It contains excerpts from many journals, detailed descriptions of the photos presented, as well as many tidbits of history known only to those who were there. I will use this book often both before and after the writing of my book report. It will help us to actually be there, in a town, a fort, or a canyon; near a river, crossing a ford, or approaching a fort. This book, along with a few others, helps us understand the country and the times of the specific place: 1850-1870 Utah. An important period of time, an interesting group of people, and a volatile place to live.
