Historic Buildings and Scenes in Mormon Country

B A. Russell Mortensen, Drawings by Carlos Andreson

This is a beautiful book, covered in canvas and filled with thick heavy manilla paper. It contains drawings of early Utah: Main street in 1868, Salt Lake City in 1869, the Eagle Gate, The White House (Brigham Young’s first house), the Lion House (where Brigham housed his many wives), Brigham’s Schoolhouse, the Old Salt Lake Theatre, and other Utah sites of interest. Each page comes with a lengthy description and history of the drawings presented. I’m sure I’ll lose–or maybe, invest– an afternoon or two in this book. Whatever information is gleaned, I will fully share.
