A Portrait of Willard Richards

By Claire Noall

I have long liked Willard Richards. Partly because he was the church historian for many years in Joseph Smith’s time, and he was there beside the prophet during the ordeal that led to the shoot-out at Carthage jail. He has proved his ability to be a true friend and continues along our journey across the Mormon Trail and to the Great Basin. Willard is actively involved with the building of the city called Salt Lake and the progress of a group of dispossessed people called the Saints.
